Gujarat Police Go Digital — Traffic Fines Payable via Google Pay, PhonePe, and More

Paying traffic fines in Gujarat has just become a lot simpler and more convenient. In a bid to make e-challan payments easier, the Gujarat government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Bank of India (SBI). This partnership introduces a new facility that allows motorists to pay fines online through the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS).

Until now, vehicle owners in Gujarat could pay their fines through the One Nation One Challan platform using net banking, debit or credit cards, UPI, the mParivahan website, or PoS machines. With this new integration, motorists can now use popular BBPS-enabled apps such as Google Pay, PhonePe, BHIM, and YONO to settle their fines directly.

The process is simple — users just need to open their preferred payment app, search for “State Traffic Branch, Gujarat,” and complete the transaction in a few clicks. The addition of BBPS brings a wider range of secure digital payment options, making it faster and more accessible for citizens to clear their dues.

According to an official statement, all payments collected through the BBPS system will be verified and settled as per the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) online transaction guidelines. The government expects this move to improve transparency, efficiency, and ease of compliance in the traffic fine collection process across the state.
