City’s Landscape Changing: Sports Complex to Be Built Under Vakil Saheb Bridge

Ahmedabad: Sports enthusiasts in the city are set to gain a major new facility as construction progresses on a modern indoor sports complex beneath the Vakil Saheb Bridge in Bopal. The project, aimed at promoting wider participation in sports among the youth, is expected to significantly strengthen Ahmedabad’s growing sports infrastructure.

The indoor complex, being developed at an estimated cost exceeding ₹20 crore, is currently under rapid construction. Once completed, the facility will accommodate a range of indoor sports, including basketball, badminton, and table tennis. Officials have also planned dedicated parking areas to ensure smooth access for players and visitors.

The upcoming sports centre is likely to become a key training and competition venue for athletes from Bopal as well as other parts of Ahmedabad. A similar under-bridge sports facility was inaugurated earlier beneath the Hebatpur flyover, and the new Bopal project is expected to further expand such innovative public-space utilisation across the city.
