Ahmedabad : Several hospitals across Gujarat have come under the scanner for alleged irregularities under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). In the past three and a half months, the state government has suspended six hospitals from the scheme for violating its norms.
According to officials, five hospitals have been barred from offering all specialty services, while one hospital’s cardiology department has been suspended for three months. In addition, ten doctors have also been disqualified from participating in the scheme due to various irregularities and procedural lapses.
The recent crackdown follows the first case reported last year at Ahmedabad’s Khyati Hospital, which prompted the state health department to launch an extensive review of all hospitals empanelled under PM-JAY. The investigations are still ongoing, and authorities continue to take action against institutions found breaching the scheme’s guidelines.
In Ahmedabad, Harekrishna Multispeciality Hospital has been suspended indefinitely, halting all treatments under PM-JAY. Universal Super Speciality Hospital in Surat has seen its cardiac services suspended for three months from August 22. Similarly, Shakti Multispeciality Hospital in Patan will remain suspended until it rectifies the identified deficiencies.
Further, Vadodara’s Isha Hospital and Naik Super Speciality Hospital, along with Renas Hospital in Kheda, have all been suspended from the scheme until they meet compliance requirements.
Officials noted that over the last ten months, more than 30 hospitals across Gujarat have faced disciplinary action for similar violations under PM-JAY. The health department has reaffirmed that strict monitoring will continue to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of the scheme.
