India’s First ₹15-Crore Grand Vrindavan Gauchar Park Coming Up in Vadnagar — A Blend of Tradition, Nature, and Innovation

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Government is taking major strides toward transforming Vadnagar into a world-class tourist destination under its ambitious ‘Anant Anadi Vadnagar’ vision. One of the most unique and visionary projects under this initiative is the Vrindavan Gauchar Park — India’s first and only project of its kind — designed to become a global model for cow-based rural development.

Estimated to cost around ₹14.98 crore, the project has already received state-level approval, with work progressing across municipal, district, and state departments under the Urban Development Department. The Gujarat Urban Development Company (GUDC) will serve as the nodal agency, overseeing the project’s coordination, while land acquisition and construction will be managed locally.

A Solution with a Vision: From Stray Cattle to Sustainable Tourism

Planned near Gaurikund in Vadnagar’s Amarathol area, the Vrindavan Gauchar Park aims to resolve the city’s long-standing issue of stray cattle by providing them with a safe, well-equipped habitat. The park will include facilities for fodder, clean water, veterinary care, and CCTV monitoring, along with a milk processing unit and secure boundary walls. In addition to improving urban management, it’s expected to emerge as a unique tourist attraction, blending animal care, rural life, and eco-tourism.

Beyond a Cowshed: Building the Future of Rural India

The vision behind the Vrindavan Gauchar Park goes far beyond cattle management. It represents a holistic model of “cow-based rural development”, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and empowerment. The project will function as a Rural Innovation Hub, combining traditional values with modern science to enhance dairy production, promote organic farming, and support self-reliant village economies.

Empowering Farmers, Women, and Rural Communities

Key goals of the project include:

  • Boosting cattle health and productivity through scientific care and nutrition.
  • Raising farmers’ income via dairy and milk product sales.
  • Creating employment in dairy, veterinary services, logistics, and agro-tourism.
  • Encouraging women’s empowerment through cooperative dairy societies.
  • Promoting organic practices using biogas and natural fertilizers.
  • Fostering community development through shared economic growth.

Merging Heritage, Culture, and Sustainability

The park will form part of a larger tourism circuit linking Vadnagar’s rich heritage — ancient temples, stepwells, and forts — with new eco-friendly attractions. Tourists will experience rural life, sustainable farming, and cow-based innovation firsthand. Additionally, the park will host artisan markets, cultural events, and local food festivals, directly supporting local artisans and small businesses.

A Model for India’s Future

Aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Gramo Uday se Bharat Uday” (From the Rise of Villages to the Rise of India), and led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, this initiative highlights how the cow — a symbol of faith — can also become a symbol of economic strength, environmental sustainability, and social unity.

With the Vrindavan Gauchar Park, Vadnagar is set to showcase a powerful message to the world: that tradition and technology, faith and progress, can thrive together — shaping a new era of rural transformation and sustainable development in India.
